Celebrating 30 Years of Answering the Call
Thirty years ago, Houston Children’s Charity was founded with a clear and urgent mission: to improve the quality of life for Greater Houston’s underprivileged, abused, and disabled children. Our founders, Gary D. Becker, Tilman J. Fertitta, Grant W. Guthrie, Donald J. Henderson, Robert E. Ogle, Michael F. Rogers, and Laura S. Ward, believed that Houston’s children deserved better, and their vision in 1996 continues to guide our work today. With the support of dedicated sponsors, committed volunteers, and a community that never stopped showing up, Houston Children’s Charity has reached more than 8 million children over the past three decades.
A Promise, 30 Years Strong
For 30 years, Houston Children’s Charity has lived a promise that never wavered: to answer the call when families needed help and to stand in the gaps when others could not. That promise has shaped three decades of compassion in action, carried forward through moments of urgency, resilience, and hope. As we celebrate this milestone, we do so with gratitude for the past and conviction for the future. The promise still stands: when a child needs help, we will answer - today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
