We measure our success by the number of children whose lives are touched by our efforts each year. Houston Children’s Charity is served by its Founder, President & CEO Laura Ward, and a steadfast Board of Directors who carefully steward the resources of our donors to efficiently and effectively meet the needs of Houston’s children.
With an ambitious goal to leave no legitimate request for assistance unanswered, we seek to expand our base of support through dedicated sponsors and committed volunteers to strengthen our ability to help children. Our supporters come from all walks of life and understand that caring means giving of themselves. There are numerous ways to be a part of our work. Joshua has two brothers, Wesly (18) and Neymar (13). They share a friendly and loving relationship and enjoy playing together. Joshua’s favorite food is chicken, and he enjoys listening to Christian music. A back massage always makes him smile. His favorite show is Mickey Mouse. One funny thing about Joshua is that he likes to put his feet in his mouth. His goal is to become independent one day. He enjoys soccer and prefers toys that have music or interesting textures. Joshua is most comfortable when sitting and is especially stimulated in that position. One thing he does not like is putting on his shoes. 🌟

Kevin, lovingly called Jr, has two brothers—Josiah (7) and Malachi (3 months). Josiah recognizes and calls out to his brothers, while baby Malachi is already beginning to smile and engage with them. Jr is primarily G-tube fed but prefers puréed fruits. He loves music, especially lullabies sung directly to him, and enjoys watching Bluey. He lights up during playtime and loves kisses all over his face. Jr enjoys sensory toys he can chew on, especially those with lights, music, or movement. He doesn’t like being cold or woken from naps. His goal is to continue growing and reaching milestones at his own pace, surrounded by love and support. 💙

Olivia is adored by her older siblings, Emilia (15) and Jonathan (13), who love reading to her, pushing her wheelchair, and giving her lots of snuggles. She loves cheesecake and has a big passion for music, especially Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, and the music from KPop Demon Hunters. A true daddy’s girl, she lights up when he gives her kisses with his bushy beard.Olivia enjoys being outdoors, feeling the breeze on her face, and loves water—baths, swimming, and ocean waves. She especially enjoys musical toys, particularly her roll-up keyboard. One funny thing about her is that she’ll pull a blanket over her head when she’s avoiding something she doesn’t like. 💖

Evan is a joyful and playful child surrounded by the love of his siblings—Isaiah (11), Madelyn (10), Heidi (5), and Caleb (3)—each of whom shares a special bond with him. He loves comfort foods like chicken nuggets, fries, mac and cheese, and chicken alfredo, and enjoys listening to Patch the Pirate musical adventures on repeat. Evan lights up when family visits, when his cat Georgie snuggles beside him, and when he’s with his classmates at school. He enjoys slapstick comedies, car videos on YouTube, and playing hide-and-seek outside. A natural prankster, Evan’s biggest goal is simply to be included and take part in everything alongside his peers. 💖

Jai is a sweet and affectionate child who loves hugs, food, and spending time with his grandma. His favorite meal is bean and cheese nachos, and he enjoys many types of music, especially disco and current top hits. He loves watching game shows like Press Your Luck and Family Feud, as well as Star Wars. Jai enjoys trips, exploring new places, and visiting parks and accessible trails. His favorite toys are his Zoom ball and iPad. One of Jai’s funniest habits is putting stickers on his nose or lips, and he has a special love for Holiday Inn. He is not a morning person and dislikes the “Happy Birthday” song, but his joyful personality and love for adventure make him truly special. 🌟

Dina is a gentle and sweet only child with a quiet but expressive personality. She enjoys listening to nursery rhymes and watching Dora the Explorer. While she doesn’t smile often, she sometimes lights up when her favorite tickle spot is rubbed. Dina is not a fan of early mornings and prefers calm, peaceful moments. One of her funniest traits is giving a playful “mean look” and rolling her eyes when things get too loud, which always makes her family laugh. She also seems to enjoy watching basketball and sharing those moments with her family. Dina’s unique charm makes her truly special. 💖
