One month from tonight, the lights will come up on Houston Children’s Charity’s 30th Anniversary Gala.

And there is someone we will deeply miss seeing behind the magic.

For more than two decades, Richard Flowers helped transform HCC’s biggest nights into something extraordinary.

Richard didn’t simply decorate a ballroom. He imagined an experience. The lights, the staging, the music, the surprises, the details—and those moments when you walked into the room and simply said, “WOW.”

Alongside Laura Ward and the HCC family, Richard helped bring countless Gala themes and celebrations to life. And those beautiful nights ultimately had a much bigger purpose: raising millions of dollars for Houston’s children and families.

Richard was a visionary and a Houston original. But to us, he was also a friend and part of the HCC family.

This year’s Gala will undoubtedly sparkle.

But it won’t be quite the same without him.

As we prepare to celebrate 30 remarkable years, we remember one of the extraordinary people who helped make so many of those years—and so many unforgettable nights—possible.

Thank you, Richard.

For the magic.
For the memories.
And most of all, for helping us answer the call for Houston’s children.
