We measure our success by the number of children whose lives are touched by our efforts each year. Houston Children’s Charity is served by its Founder, President & CEO Laura Ward, and a steadfast Board of Directors who carefully steward the resources of our donors to efficiently and effectively meet the needs of Houston’s children.
With an ambitious goal to leave no legitimate request for assistance unanswered, we seek to expand our base of support through dedicated sponsors and committed volunteers to strengthen our ability to help children. Our supporters come from all walks of life and understand that caring means giving of themselves. There are numerous ways to be a part of our work. And so it began…
in 1997, Houston Children's Charity hosted its first star-studded fundraising gala featuring the legendary Ray Charles. More than 650 people attended to support a mission that was only one year old.
That evening raised critical funds for children in need, and proved Houston believed in what Houston Children’s Charity could become. Answering the call for children — then and always.
Thirty years later, our mission is still going strong, supported by a community of Texans whose hearts and generosity is unparalleled.

On what would have been Princess Diana's birthday, we're reminded that a shared mission can bring people together from across the world.
In 2005, Houston Children's Charity was honored to welcome The Right Honorable Earl Spencer, brother of Princess Diana, for a special evening benefiting both HCC and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.
Earl Spencer recognized the similarities between Diana's humanitarian work and HCC's commitment to helping children in need, a reminder that compassion speaks a universal language.
