Misión Comodidad de Tejas, Inc., dba, Mission Comfort, established Sep. 12, 2013,  is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity set up to send "comfort items", purchase water filters, and to build a school in Bateyes of the La Romana area of the Dominican Republic.   A Batey is what the people living on the sugar cane plantations call the villages or communities where they live.   It is sometimes translated into English as ‘Camp’.   There are over 150 bateys in the region we visit and perhaps thousands throughout the Dominican Republic.
