“Jugs for Hugs”
Brothers of Lambda Phi Epsilon, are prideful in their work with Service and Philanthropy. It is their goal to provide services in the best interest of the community and University. This past February, the members of the fraternity hosted a service event called "Jugs for Hugs." The purpose of this event was to raise the awareness of the underprivileged, abused, and disabled children of Houston. Members gathered loose and spare change in water jugs between February 1st, 2016 to February 15th, 2016. All proceeds were donated to Houston Children's Charity at the Annual Easter Party on March 5, 2015. The Brothers of Lambda Phi Epsilon wanted their donation to be used for Easter Baskets for the children in attendance that day.
"The fraternity wanted to give back to our own local community. The children are our future and we wanted to express that we care for them. "Jugs for Hugs" was our way of giving a "hug" to those in need of one. With time and hard-work, we've raised $1,300 for our service project and surpassed our goal of only $200. It is amazing and self-rewarding to help those who help others. We have formed an alliance with Houston Children's Charity and can't wait for our future projects together.”
