Annual Easter Party
Hoppin’ Down the Bunny Trail…..
On April 12, 2014 Houston Children’s Charity hosted its Annual Easter Party for Houston area families and agencies. On the grounds of Northland Christian School, located in Spring, Texas, over 300 underprivileged children enjoyed the planned Easter festivities.
Fun activities for the day included a petting zoo, pony rides, moon walks, face painting and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Games were played, jewelry was crafted, cotton candy and popcorn was consumed and prizes were handed out to the children throughout the event. An Easter Egg Hunt occurred on the football and softball fields of Northland Christian. Last, but certainly not least, individual Easter Baskets, stuffed animals, books and board games were also distributed to each child prior to leaving the festivities.
HCC teamed up with Wendy’s Old Fashion Hamburgers and PepsiCo to provide the food and drinks for the event. Entertainment came in various forms. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo – Speakers’ Committee Rodeo Clowns donated their times and provided laughs and happy faces to the delight of many children. Children and parents danced to the tunes and enjoyed a performance by PAL dancers (Police Activity League). Dynamo Diesel, Wendy and Cookie Monster walked through the guest and posed for photos. Klein Volunteer Fire Department and the Houston Police Department had vehicles on site for show. Other donations by Randall’s, Violeta’s Pasteles, James Coney Island, Taco Cabana, Salviace Photography, Brenda Lechuga Family and Northland Christian School helped make this event unforgettable for those deserving children.
HCC would like to thank our gracious host Steve Lemm and the folks at Northland Christian School for allowing us to bring smiles to kid’s faces year after year. This tradition began in the spring of 1999 and we are excited that Mr. Lemm, NCS and our dedicated volunteers are able to pull out all the stops.
